Hamburg

Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany, there is plenty to see and do and it has so many attractions to offer. To me Hamburg is simply the best. Here are some things I recommend while visiting Hamburg for a few days.

See

On your first day in the city take the Walking Tour, it will teach you a lot about it's history while taking you through some famous sites.
- St. Pauli.
- Reeperbahn.

- Hamburg Harbor/port it is considered Germany’s gateway to the world.

Eat

5 places to eat in Hamburg:
Jim Block burgers (this is where we always take our out of town guests)
Marlin, Good German food, decent prices, and if the weather is great kids can play in their big garden.

Die Kartoffelstube I went there once for a team lunch, they offer a different meal every day, which is what we got when we went.

Hofbräuhaus, especially if you don't plan on traveling to the south, you can get a feel of what Oktoberfest would be like.
At a park, they sell disposable grills at almost every supermarket, and the parks are full of people grilling away.

Do

- Miniatur Wunderland

- Hagenbeck's tierpark (hamburg zoo)
- Hamburger Dom.

Day Trips

As a bonus, If you're here for more than a couple of days take a day trip, there are many options to and from Hamburg, here are some of the one's we've done:

Bremen

Lübeck, especially in December, it is said to have the best Christmas market in the north.

Lüneburg

or go to one of the nearby beaches, we went to Scharbeutz.
